But by all accounts I'd have to agree with Ziggy it seems a simple case of needing adjustment, I'd look at the bracket on the gearbox which hold the outer sheath of the cable in place to make sure it's not bent or damaged. (Though I seem to think it's cast alloy I sorted engine oil change warning by pressing accelerator pedal down to floor with ignition on and then pressing brake pedal 7 times whilst keeping accelerator pedal pressed down and keeping it pressed down for further 60 seconds after the 7 brake pedal pumps. ignition off for a minute then back on and start - message gone!

Secure some light grade emmery paper over the glass. Now gently place the head face down on top. Now gently slide the head around for a short while. Lift head off and turn over. You should be able to see where the head has beed sanded. If it is even all over the head then you do not need to skim the head.

The reason the oil light is flashing is because the engine control unit works out the degrigation of the engine oil, when you change the oil and filter the oil life monitoring as the be reset. The only way to reset this is with the correct diagnostic tool, a dealer or a specialist will reset it for a small fee. WBUc.
