by CalTech » Tue Nov 28, 2017 6:32 pm. Yeah. It didn't look normal to me. We had a 2.0 Ecoboost fusion before, and it would smoke a puff under acceleration, but it was not continuous during hard acceleration like this car. It looked like oil smoke too, not the black stuff you get out of DI engines.
Many manufacturer/vehicle specific DTC codes will only be shown by a Ford specific diagnostic system. For example an ELM327 interface in combination with the Forscan software. Being a 1.0 ECOboost you should start inspecting for mechanical engine failure as a result of possible overheating and inspect the wetbelt for excessive wear.

Answered by Honest John. Probably because the turbo is too hot and a heat sensor prevents the engine switching off in order to preserve the turbo bearing from damage. Though water cooled, the turbo does get very hot because hauling the Focus body is a lot of work for a 1.0-litre engine. Tags: stop-start technical issues.
